Jerry Dunham, President

We of The California Retired Teachers’ Association, Division #9 welcome you to our  website.  CalRTA  is  the  largest retired educators'   organization  in  the nation  with  88  divisions  and 53,000 members of which 240 belong to our division.

The  Mt.  Lassen  division  covers  two counties:  Glenn  and Tehama. Major  towns  are  Willows, Orland,  Corning, Tehama and Red Bluff, which  are located on the Highway I-5 and 99 corridor about  midway  between  Sacra- mento  and  Redding.

As implied by our core purpose, we are very active in respect to issues that impact  our retirement benefits  and public  education. Though  we  do  not engage  in support  of  candidates,  we  do  take  active  stands  in  respect  to federal  and  state  legislation  and initiatives. Not only do we have a very effective State Legislation Committee and lobbyist, but also each  division  has  a  Legislative Chair to organize
 grass roots support  when  needed.

As retired teachers who have spent years helping students the ingrained interest in assisting  people  within the  community has continued  into  retirement.  Our members spend thousands of hours each year donating time to volunteer organizations.

Since we want to continually improve our effectiveness,  we  welcome  ideas and suggestions  from  our  members. We encourage our membership to take full advantage of the services, programs, and fellowship of our organization.

We have five regular general luncheon meetings during the year. These are held on  the  second  Monday  of  October (Willows),  December
( Red Bluff), February (Orland), April (Corning) and June (Tehama). Also, you are welcome to attend our Board meetings. These are held at 10 a.m. on the second Monday of the odd-numbered months, except July, at the Iron Skillet in Corning.

Please feel free to contact me to find out how we can support one a
other!
